BEAST is thrilled to welcome John Mincone to our training staff! John is a retired professional pitcher with the NY Mets and Chicago Cubs, and a seasoned and well respected pitching instructor.
John grew up right here in the neighborhood and is a graduate of Half Hollow Hills HS East. His senior year he was named First Team All-State and won the prestigious Paul Gibson Award as the Best Pitcher in Suffolk County. After high school John went on to play college baseball at Division I James Madison University, where he appeared in 11 games as a freshman before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. John then played at Suffolk Community College where he was named NJCAA First Team All-American and NJCAA Pitcher of the Year.
John was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th Round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft and would play two seasons with the rookie ball and Low-A affiliates before going on to sign with his hometown favorites, the NY Mets. During his minor league career, John recorded a 3.33 ERA and was twice named an MiLB Mid-Season All-Star.
